Education built around values
Year 7 - Year 11
From 11 to 16 years of age
In our secondary department, there are two key stages which complete compulsory secondary education, up to the age of 16.
In the first three years of studying in secondary the pupils experience the full range of the English National Curriculum subjects, as well as Spanish language and humanities (ciencias sociales).
Key Stage 3
We offer the following National Curriculum subjects in Key Stage 3:
English Language and Literature
General Science (A combination of key concepts of Biology, Chemistry and Physics)

Foreign students who do not have a high enough level of Spanish to follow the Spanish compulsory subjects (Language and Social Sciences) study Spanish as a foreign language. At the end of Year 9, all pupils sit their first formal external exam: IGCSE Second Language English.
Key Stage 4
In Key Stage 4, the IGCSE (International Certificate of Secondary Education) subjects determine the curriculum, based on compulsory subjects and options. The IGCSE programme of study covers the full Key Stage, beginning in Year 10 and reaching completion in Year 11 with the external IGCSE examinations.
The compulsory IGCSE subjects for all Key Stage 4 students are:
English (First) Language
Science Double Award
Spanish (First) Language
All students choose three additional options, from the following range of subjects:
Apart from British subjects, all Key Stage 4 students take Spanish Language, Literature, History and Geography as compulsory requirements for Spanish students in international education in Spain. PE and PSHE are also compulsory although students in Key Stage 4 do not sit formal exams in these 2 subjects.
The students take the following external examinations.

Year 11 (4º ESO)
- IGCSEs in core and option subjects
The IGCSE is the international version of the examinations taken by students in England and Wales of the same age. The students take different examinations in up to 10 subjects. These examinations are taken in English.
